So what is the limiting factor for nano network to scale?
Does nano maximum transaction throughput depend on the fastest node in the network or on the average hardware?
As a default setting, 60M delegated nano needs to be online and voting or transactions will not get through. That means those representative nodes which make up the 60M quorum (the majority of votes) fastest also needs to keep up with new transactions, ie. stay in sync. Those nodes will decide the max pace. That means it’s beneficial for the network if reps with a large portion of voting weight have the best hardware. That way the least amount of nodes need to vote which minimized the effect of Internet latency. However less nodes also means less decentralized so its a balance of speed and security. The quorum limit can be adjusted per node if needed.
